GM and Tiger Woods end endorsement agreement after 9 years

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- General Motors said Monday that its endorsement deal with golfer Tiger Woods will end on Dec. 31. "Both GM and Woods agreed to a mutual and amicable separation that included a desire for more personal time for the 14-time major winner who is expecting his second child in late winter as well as the search for budget efficiencies during a difficult economy for General Motors," said GM in a statement. Woods had endorsed GM products for the last 9 years. The company noted that discussions had started earlier in the year and the timing of the decision is "coincidental."
