WASHINGTON -- The rumors are starting to sound like reality. President-elect Barack Obama is poised to nominate Hillary Clinton as secretary of state after Thanksgiving, sources in Obama's transition team say.

One week after the former primary rivals met secretly to discuss the idea of Clinton becoming the nation's top diplomat, the two sides were moving quickly toward making it a reality, barring any unforeseen problems.

One transition aide told The Associated Press that the two camps have worked out financial disclosure issues involving Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, and the complicated international funding of his foundation that operates in 27 countries. The aide said Obama and Hillary Clinton have had substantive conversations about the secretary of state job.

A transition aide confirmed those details to FOX News.

Hillary Clinton is expected to accept the position of secretary of state in the Obama administration, FOX News has confirmed. A formal announcement is planned for after Thanksgiving.

Reports indicate that Sen. Clinton made her decision to accept quite recently, after persistent courting by Obama and his transition team.

ABC News reports that Clinton even was leaning toward rejecting Obama's offer, until his staff members flooded her with calls to convince her to say yes. Clinton had told the Obama transition team on Wednesday that she didn't want to give up her independence in the Senate, sources told ABC News.

The New York Times, citing two Clinton confidants, said that the former First Lady reached the decision to accept after further discussions about her potential role with President-elect Barack Obama.

Obama's camp encouraged her to delay making a final decision. Then on Thursday, many of Obama's staff members reached out to Clinton and convinced her to take the job.
